Re: the *NEW* GRwdP speculation POLL
since the reasons for the cars I voted are self-apparent (imho
), here's the WHY's for what I didn't vote for
the first 2 are mainly due to a lack of 'trust' - that the models would be mis-used...
- Thunderbird - almost voted Yes; I'd really like one if it looked something like this:

but 1. it's not essential for Ford imho & 2. it'd take them too far upmarket (heck, I even find the Taurus to be a bit too 'uppity' & encroaching on Merc-Turf™)
- Interceptor-copcar - tho I believe it COULD be designed not to negatively impact retail GRwdP cars, I'm afraid that wouldn't happen - - I'm almost ready to VETO a GRwdP Interceptor!
the next 2 are simply not needed imho
- CV-Galaxie &/or MGM-Marauder - Ford won't EVER need a car this big again!! & since I've acclimated to the (temporary) Small Mercs Theorem, they don't get one either
the last 2 I've got alternative platforms for
- Lincoln Towncar (bigger than the MKS) - build an MKT-based F-Awd semi-flagship sedan (actually the Continental tho smaller would be the real flagship ...& global too!)
- Falcon UTE & Territory (and next-next Explorer?) - imho the coming T6 truck platform would serve better

Re: the *NEW* GRwdP speculation POLL
Let the T6 be reserved for the Everest and sell it there.
People in Aus like the RWD crossover formula.

I was going to post the whole Autoblog article...
...until I saw it's based on a MotorTrend 'farticle'™
aww what the heck
Report: 2014 Mustang could be based on global platform with IRS - Autoblog
by Jeremy Korzeniewski
on Jan 20th 2010 at 5:26PM
Anxiously awaiting the day that you can stroll into your nearest Ford dealership, plunk down $30,000 dollars and drive away in a brand-new Mustang with an independent rear suspension? You've surely got a few more years to save your money, but the boys from Motor Trend are reporting that fully-independent salvation will finally show up for the Mustang's 50th Anniversary Party in 2014.
MT projects that there are a few ways the Blue Oval could go with its next-gen pony car in order to satisfy the demand for IRS, the most likely of which appears to be a significantly revised version of the current Mustang platform with the recently unveiled 5.0-liter V8 engine as the centerpiece. Other less likely options include downsizing the Mustang and powering it with an Ecoboost V6 engine or, least likely of all, taking the car upmarket to compete with cars like the Nissan GT-R.
One thing that MT speculates won't happen is the Mustang's next-gen architecture being shared with any other models under Ford's prodigious product umbrella – including the Australian Ford Falcon or a new large rear-wheel drive luxury sedan from Lincoln. Whatever happens, it seems that Ford has at least a few more years to mull it over.

Re: the *NEW* GRwdP speculation POLL
did a GRwdP chop inspired by & for JPD80 @ FordAustraliaForums
which didn't seem to 'fit' in any chopping thread
so I added it to the initial post of this thread
