Milan taillights: yeah, that's one thing i was going to do before i decided to just wrap it up today. i'll probably try a coupe version from a different photo and then i'll add some Milan touches to it. we'll call this Clay #1....

Re: Potpourri of chops...

i just remembered i did a 'coupe' version of the Verve concept. The next Fiesta-based Lynx coupe I do
will be more svelte and coupe-like... i still would like Mercury to bring back a Breezeway or two though!

Re: Potpourri of chops...

And now for something completely different.... This is the Mercury San Marino hybrid coupe. Instead of coming out with a Milan coupe, there would be a completely new body for this luxury coupe—high-performance hybrid drivetrain and all wheel drive. For this car, I haven't used the now-traditional Mercury grille and surround. I've upsized the circular logo and reduced the vertical grille bars to just the bare minimum.
base photo was the 2008 Citroen C5. i think this is one really good looking mid-size sedan.

Looks Amazing!! I think maybe Citroen should be looking at this and seeing potential in a coupe...

Re: Potpourri of chops...

oh yes I did!! i'm sitting here watching the Emmys on TV, avoiding real work (I'd get paid for, lol) and thought i'd chop something a bit lighthearted.... GM's TOTAL SURPRISE.... the 2010 Aztek!
E N J O Y !
based on the newest car/truck/coupe/crossover/suv/thing that everyone loves to hate, the Acura ZDX. i thought that if there was another Aztek, the only thing that could be done worse to it would be remove the utility.....
(actually i've heard if you can get past the looks, the original Aztek is a pretty useful tool-i see 3 of them used as train cars in my town-the ultimate commuter car that doens't actually get driven except to the train station).Last edited by artandcolour; 09-20-2009 at 08:59 PM.

Re: Potpourri of chops...
love the San Marino
french cars are some of my favorite donors for future Mercs - usually with substantial changes but the overall forms/proportions usually intrigue me.
The C5's more classic lines definitely wear the waterfall well without major surgery
the Aztek, I don't know... ...but 'dunno' in the same way I feel about the X6 & GT5 --
think a sport-cross, or "sportXcar" as I've called them, could be my favorite Class of vehicles but no one's 'hit' it yet
btw, art, here's a Link to another recent neo-Aztek morph
AND
WOW, you've been busy lately
&
I'm having trouble just keeping up with absorbing them

...with extreme prejudice

Re: Potpourri of chops...
thanks! i can't open that link unless i register at GMI. i thought i did once, but it doesn't seem to be the case. i'm beat tonight, but i'll go through the process tomorrow and check it out.
i go through spurts when i do 5 chops a week and then nothing for a while. you're caught up for a while now! i've got to do almost 100 pieces of art for a rock climbing book. they're black and white line drawings and i have to colorize them and make them look good. yechhhhh. really intricate crap that just ends up looking like a cartoon anyway. i won't be chopping for a while!

Re: Potpourri of chops...

how about reintroducing Mercury in the Chinese Domestic Market, as a competitor to Buick... historically competing brands in the US, could be a viable Chinese luxury marque if done right. they'd all be high-tech hybrid, awd models with high-content interiors. This is the Monterery.
base photo a Corolla, but the Monterey would be Milan sized, with more rear legroom but lower height overall.
