    Default chop progression: C170 Milanocus>>Milanetto5

    Started as a request elsewhere,
    here's a progression from the '08 Focus to a more differentiated C170 Milanetto5
as an interim small car before the domestic C2 comes online

    original @ forums.bradbarnett.net 800x520 128k

    Focus redux
    click for 800x520

    Milanocus
larger pic is not currently online
chopped on a Milan front end & wheels (5th pic on this Netcarshow page)

    Milanetto sedan
    click for 800x520
shrunk the headlites + fog openings,
tried to redraw the grille á là Mariner,
& slightly enlarged the rear wheel.

    Milanetto 5 door
    click for 800x520
changed greenhouse & accent slash (for a smoother sorta-LeadSled-ish-sorta look),
the rear doors are still stock.

I really like it. I would love to see your take on Merc-i-fied versions of the verve concept and the C1.5 Focus.

    TY Jsaylor!

whacha mean by C1.5 Focus? I'm game I've used that "1.5" too but not sure if we mean the same thing by it.

as for the Verve, it's B not C class, right?
Don't think Merc should go smaller than Focus ...just yet...
maybe if I tried a nextgen Verve?
(If you like I'll email you my 2018 Mazda3 which could easily be scaled down but that I can't really post cuz it's strongly based (without permission) on someone else's Corvette drawing - but ya hafta promise not to reveal it you'd need to either enable forum-emailing or PM your address)

I'm using C1.5 to refer to the new 'Mondeo-esque' Focus refresh. Now I'm curious, what do you use C1.5 to refer to?

And yes, the Verve is indeed B Class. My reasoning for Merc getting the car has a lot to do with the image I think Merc should be going for, where I think they would fit best strategically, and my belief that the Ford brand shouldn't be getting a version of the Verve. (one of these days I'll post the novel that is my personal thought on what Ford should do with the Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury brands...most would find it pretty radical)

Forum e-mailing is now enabled btw. And I promise to protect the render with my life.

iirc I used C1.5 to mean a ficticious half-way to nextgen-C2 in the pre'08 Focus days
(I have trouble believing the U.S. & euroFocus are all that different mechanically)

How's about we start a separate thread for "Mission Mercury"?!?
    kinda use it as either
-each just giving a bunch of 'shoulds' with-or-without examples/chops*, or
    -a collaborative quest, or
    -both, or
-maybe come up with multiple scenarios, or
    -something completely different?
(have you ever seen the Malibu/Chevelle "Underground" project at Cheers&Gears?)
((* hopefully more members here will chime in if even they don't chop/draw))

email sent just asking it not be posted anywhere

Sounds like a plan to me. I'm in for all of the above.

I have not but I'm on my way....

    Default chop progression: C170 Milanocus>>Milanetto5>>Milanetto-XR3

rather than just reference this thread, I'm resurrecting it
with a new C2 Merc (which I always intended to add anyway )
    larger attached

the funny thing is, this was inspired by a chop that looked (to me) a lot like the 2010 Milan...

tho my chop, as usual, turned out how IT wanted to instead.

here's a LINK to a List of my C2's features & options & engines & etc (perfect for when you can't sleep!)

Thumbs up Re: chop progression: C170 Milanocus>>Milanetto5

    ^ Excellent chop 2b2!

I really like it & this is exactly what I would love to see in a compact Mercury. I've always said Mercury's new compact sedan should be based on the Mazda 3.

    thanks, Mr.SABLE
    umm
do you get a little Cougar-ish-feel from the front re-design?
it wasn't intentional & I wouldn't call a small Fwd that, but maybe this style on another car?...

think the back came out more Capri-ish

    ^ Another excellent chop 2b2!

Yeah, I can kinda feel a Cougar vibe in the front end design.

I really think you did a fantastic job on the rear, In my opinion this looks like it should have been put into production as of yesterday.
